Safety's never certain. These poems depict life shot through
with dangers sourced by a word, a glance, an unforeseen
event. Survival strategies vary from the lovely to the
ludicrous, and lilt or limp towards a sense of salvation in a
journey 'devoid of final destination' and endlessly amazing.
This collection of poems considers myths, art and science
threaded through incidents, reflections, fragments of
narratives, in which unseen forces and individuals timelessly
role-play. This presents a range of human experience which is
both strange and deeply familiar.
These poems describe a perpetual negotiating of borderlands,
transition points often requiring a metamorphic
response. This becomes a form of freedom as the shifting of
shape and identity is chronicled by memory which transcends
its own surface tension to reach a realm of mystery deepening
like the blue of the sky 'into midnight blue, then midnight'.
